Music Ministry
Music is a very important part of Pebble Hill's life. Our adult choir, led by organist and choir master Bette Kahler, contributes richly to the spiritual life of the congregation. The choir rehearses weekly, and sings during our Sunday worship service from September through May. Additionally, Pastor Pete, a talented singer and guitarist, often shares his musical gifts during our Sunday worship service. That's always a treat!
Major musical presentations are offered at Christmas time and Easter. During the seasons of Lent and Advent, we offer special music which often includes guest musicians from the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra.
The children and youth of the congregation share their musical talents at occasional services throughout the year.
Working in partnership with Executive Director Larry Luttinger's CNY Jazz Arts Foundation, Pebble Hill's Jazz Vespers series offers Sunday evening services with music that "Swings to the Lord" and features members of the Central New York Jazz Orchestra and guest vocalists. We have three Jazz Vesper services throughout the year. They are free and open to the public.
Doors to Music, a music skills and appreciation program for young children and parents, is housed at Pebble Hill Church. The director of this popular program is Richard Holmquist.
Community music groups, including Schola Cantorum and the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA), often perform in our sanctuary, noted for its fine acoustics.
