Youth Ministry
Our church youth group, grades 7 through 12, is led by Intermin Coordinator of Youth Ministry Dale Shidemantle and caring adults sharing their gifts and faith journeys. This enthusiastic group meets on Sunday mornings from 11:00 until noon for religious exploration and discussion. They have lively discussions, and work in community to care for one another other on their faith journeys.
The group also meets twice monthly for fellowship, education, and mission. They began their fall season together with a weekend retreat at the Vanderkamp Center (www.vk.org ), in Cleveland, NY. Much of the retreat was spent doing community and mission work.
They also participate in the annual Martin Luther King Presbyterian Youth Connection weekend retreats at the Vanderkamp Center, along with youth groups from several other churches in the Presbytery.
The kids enjoy being together as a group and working in service throughout the Syracuse community. They have been blessed to participate in the InterFaith Works Annual Duck Race, Vanderkamp yard cleanup, the annual Crop Walk, the Samaritan Center (cooking and serving), the Souper Bowl of Caring collection, and food shopping for the New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church's food pantry.
