What we do |
The purpose of this program is to provide opportunities that will—differently than typical “dialogues”—bring Christians, Jews, and Muslims together to study their own and each other’s traditions in the presence of each other. In faith-alike and mixed-faith groupings, participants have an opportunity to learn more about their own traditions and those of their neighbors.
The assumptions behind the program are several-fold:
Contact [email protected] if you are interested in joining one or both of them! Early Registration Now Open! You are invited to join in two special interfaith events in March and April. Both events are free. #1 - Ramadan celebrations: Prayer, fasting and acts of charity are at the heart of Muslims’ month-long observance of Ramadan, beginning March 10. For the first time, members of CNY RISE Center are inviting us to join them in their homes for the evening meal (Iftar) that breaks the daily fast. If you’d like to be placed on the guest list. Indicate if you’re available on weekdays (Monday to Thursday), weekends (Friday to Sunday), or both, and how many adults and/or children will be accompanying you. #2 - “Learning Together with Our Neighbors Annual Event”: The 5th annual event will be held on Sunday, April 14 (1 - 7 pm, including dinner). This year’s theme is “Through Another’s Eyes: Being Other in America.” With the help of guest speakers and small group discussions, participants will gain a better understanding of what it means to be Muslim, Jewish or African American today. |
